The Harvard Mediation Program follows a facilitative mediation model. During the basic training, mediations are conducted in the areas of small claims, landlord-tenant, parent-child, and advanced civil cases. The Advanced Division handles self-referrals and cases referred by regional courts, probation officers and other sources. The Advanced Division includes training by mediation professionals followed by mediation of advanced cases.
Founded in 1981 by Harvard Law School students, the Harvard Mediation Program has grown significantly, now encompassing small claims, landlord-tenant, tenant-tenant, and advanced civil mediation practices.
